The statuette of an ox was placed in the tomb to be used as an offering for food or to be used to work the fields on behalf of the deceased in the afterlife.
The body of the ox was realistically painted white with black spots. Traces of a tail, two horns, and one eye are still visible.
Scenes of cattle were portrayed on tomb walls and models of stables for animals were placed in tombs of high officials beginning in the Old Kingdom. |
