A container with two handles can be categorized as being in the hydria style. It is made of glazed black pottery and has geometrical patterns on the upper and lower parts.
Within the geometrical patterns there are the figures of two ladies wearing Greek garments. One of the two figures carries a round object, on which a Greek letter is written; the lady that carries it is offering it to the second lady while they are conversing.
These hydria (water jars) are famous for their multicolored decorations in purple, red and black. |
