Jashinkir

Jashinkir means "Taster". The Jashinkir, an important official at a Mamluk sultan's court, would taste the sultan' s food or drink to assure that it was not poisoned.

Jizya

The jizya is a poll tax or head tax paid by Christians and Jews in Muslim Egypt. It was abolished in AD 1855.
