The Early Dynastic Period, or the First and Second Dynasties, was the founding era of civilization in ancient Egypt. This is the period in which the hieroglyphic script was improved with more signs and accuracy in style and form.

The state administration and the cults of the gods and the dead were also being established.

Surprisingly, for such an early period, the jewelry of King Djer of the First Dynasty was made with fine techniques by artisans who mastered the art of polishing hard gemstones and designing innovative figures.
