Family Reunion

According to ancient Egyptian belief, the tomb was where family members, dead or alive, were reunited in the afterlife.

Ancient Egyptians believed that the souls of the dead come whenever they are called by the priests and invited to participate in the funerary and offering ceremonies.

At the tomb, the family members come to visit the departed and make offerings for them and recite prayers for their benefit.

Wall decorations in the tombs and engravings on stelae, upright stones with a sculpted surface, show scenes of family members making offerings as well as reciting funerary formulas, which will work eternally as long as these depictions are preserved.
