The house consists of two sections: a southern section that was constructed by Sheikh Abdel Wahab al-Tablawy in AD 1648 (1058 After Hijra), and a northern section, constructed by Haj Ismail Shalaby in AD 1796 (1211 After Hijra).
The Palace of Prince Bashtak was built on the eastern part of the ruins of a Fatimid palace. Little remains from the original building except for a hall and two porches.
