Minas was a Christian Roman soldier who fell in battle in Asia Minor. His companions bore his body from the battlefield carrying it on one camel and his belongings on another.

Saint Antony was born in the year AD 245. After the death of his father, he left his family and sister and gave his wealth away. Saint Antony is considered to be the father of communal monasticism in Egypt.

Saint Paul the Hermit was born in Alexandria in AD 288. He left the city and devoted himself to a hermitage and isolation. He settled in the Eastern Desert.

Saint Stephan was one of the first deacons, servant and the first Christian martyr. He was one of seven men who were selected and specially ordained by the Apostles to take care of the temporal relief of the poorer members.
