The prosperous era of the Eighteenth Dynasty saw a profusion of toiletry articles in all manner of forms that were included among both royal and private tombs.

This wooden "swimming girl" spoon is modeled as a naked girl lying on her belly and stretching her arms in a swimming pose. She holds onto a spoon that has a small basin in the shape of a swimming duckling with a hollow body.

The duckling head was made separately and fixed to the body and the stylized plumage was inlaid in blue paste.

The girl is wearing an inlaid collar; her face is enhanced with color and her fringed wig is painted black.
