The marble portrait head comes from a colossal statue of Emperor Augustus. Only the face, the surrounding hair, and the neck have survived from the colossal figure. The rear surface is roughly finished.

Both ears are damaged. There are traces of red paint on the hair, the brows, and the eyes. The hair differs from the normal arrangement used for portraying Augustus and the head is turned to the left.

Augustus' broad face is clearly depicted with thick lips and a prominent chin.
